VELMORYA

Our Economy – Building Wealth Together in Velmorya
Velmorya’s economy is designed to keep prosperity in the hands of its residents. Through community-owned enterprises, cooperative homeownership, and sustainable industries, we ensure that every dollar circulates within our self-sustaining, Black-owned gated community before leaving.
Community-Owned Enterprises (COEs)
Velmorya’s Community-Owned Enterprises are businesses owned collectively by residents. Profits stay in the community, funding local services, infrastructure, and programs while creating stable, well-paying jobs for our people. This model ensures that economic growth benefits every household, not outside investors.
Examples of COEs in Velmorya include:
-
Legacy Market & Farmers’ Hub – Fresh produce, locally made goods, and farm-to-table dining.
-
Harmonia Arts Center – Cultural performances, exhibitions, and creative workshops.
-
Velmorya Tech & Innovation Hub – Co-working spaces, tech training, and startup support.
-
Community Farming & Orchards – Sustainable agriculture supplying homes and businesses.
-
The Sovereign Hotel – Luxury accommodations for guests, with profits reinvested in resident services.
New Legacy Community Mortgage Collective (NL-CMC)
The NL-CMC is Velmorya’s cooperative homeownership program, designed to make housing affordable and secure for every resident. Instead of traditional mortgages, members contribute to a shared fund that covers construction and maintenance costs.
Our model ensures:
-
No Foreclosure – Homes cannot be taken away due to missed payments.
-
No Displacement – Residents are protected from rising costs that force people out.
-
Shared Equity – Value grows for every member, not outside banks.
Every housing payment is reinvested directly into community services and infrastructure, including:
-
Road and building maintenance
-
Education and training programs
-
Health and wellness facilities
-
Cultural and recreational spaces
-
Emergency readiness
This way, homeownership not only provides stability—it actively strengthens Velmorya as a whole.

Job Creation & Skills Development
Velmorya’s economy is built to create meaningful, well-paying jobs for residents first. Every district contributes to a wide range of career opportunities— from healthcare and hospitality to agriculture, technology, and the arts.
We also invest in training and skills development so residents can grow with the community:
-
Apprenticeships & Trade Programs – Preparing youth and adults for careers in construction, farming, renewable energy, and more.
-
Entrepreneurship & Business Training – Helping residents start and manage their own enterprises.
-
Arts & Cultural Programs – Creating paid opportunities for local artists, performers, and cultural educators.
-
Technology & Innovation Workshops – Building skills in coding, design, and emerging technologies.
By combining job creation with skill-building, Velmorya ensures residents have both the opportunities and capabilities to thrive within our self-sustaining, Black-owned gated community.
Reinvestment Model
In Velmorya, every dollar generated by residents, businesses, and community programs is designed to stay in the community as long as possible before leaving. Profits from Community-Owned Enterprises, housing contributions through the NL-CMC, event revenue, and agricultural sales all feed back into improving life for every resident.
Our reinvestment priorities include:
-
Infrastructure & Maintenance – Roads, utilities, public spaces, and housing upkeep.
-
Education & Training – Schools, workshops, and skill-building programs for all ages.
-
Healthcare & Wellness – Medical centers, mental health services, and preventive care.
-
Cultural Programs – Arts, heritage preservation, and community events.
-
Emergency Preparedness – Crisis response networks, safety infrastructure, and disaster recovery.
This closed-loop economic system ensures that the wealth created in Velmorya remains with Velmorya—building generational stability and true community sovereignty.
